WHAT IS THE WORKING FAMILIES PARTY?

The California Working Families Party is the grassroots party for the multiracial working class, fighting to make California care for all its people, not just the wealthy and well connected. Our primary tool for change is electoral power - getting working people into office who will vote for our policies, not just talk about them.

WFP started in New York in 1998 and has since become one of the most effective progressive political forces in the country. We've helped elect hundreds of candidates at every level - city council members, state legislators, members of Congress - who fight for working families once they're in office. We've proven that working-class people can build enough political power to win, govern, and deliver real material gains.

HOW WE'RE ORGANIZED

CALIFORNIA

The LA chapter is one of many across California, all part of the statewide California Working Families Party (CAWFP). The CAWFP is made up of labor unions, nonprofit organizations, and you, the members.

THE CHAPTER

The chapter is led by elected member representatives who coordinate our work across LA. Three committees handle the core functions: Elections (endorsements and campaigns), Recruiting (growing membership), and Community (events and mutual aid).

YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD

The real work happens in neighborhood squads - WFP members in your area organizing together. Each squad is led by a neighborhood captain who holds regular meetings, shares opportunities, and helps you find your place in the movement.

This website is run by Los Angeles Working Families Party members. This is not an official California Working Families Party Page.
